2024 has started and January month is almost at the end, while some of us has been on holiday for a few days; not really putting in effort to plan and map out 2024 to see in which direction we ought to go. Then there are some of us that have made plans, thought about where they would like to be at the end of 2024, putting certain things in place to achieve those goals.
The scenario sketches two types of people who is equally at the starting block ready to take on the race of 2024 but the difference is that one has had pre-race training, while the other has just shown up for the race with no pre-race training.
The question posed to the 2024 races are, “Are you going to make 2024 yours?”.
Both scenarios have equal time set out for them which is 365 days long in 2024 but will they use it fully to their advantage?
So how do you make 2024 yours?
Here are a few practical things that can get you off to the races.
1. Set out realistic goals for yourself!
We tend to compare ourselves to the “Jones’s” and want to achieve what they have achieve, but realistically it would not be possible, as the “Jones’s” journey was different.
So set goals which you know you can achieve and if not achieved learn from the mistakes made.
2. Celebrate the goal once it has been achieved!
We look over the fact that when we have achieved a goal that it is expected of us to celebrate it, this we see in every sports code, once a game has been won, a goal has been won, a goal has been scored in soccer, a home run in baseball or a try been scored in rugby, what happens after it has been achieved, a celebration.
So, celebrate once you’ve achieved that goal, the celebration doesn’t necessarily have to be expensive, it just an acknowledgement of the goal that was achieved.
3. Don’t forget to stop and smell the flowers.
In life we have so many things to be grateful for, there is a saying, count your blessings name them one by one.
That been said; stop along the journey of 2024 and “smell” appreciate what you have; relationships, quality friendships, family members, the ability to go away for a holiday, which ever “flowers” you have, stop, and smell them and appreciate it.
4. Take care of yourself
We are drawn to helping people in need, which there is nothing wrong with, but did you stop and think that you may also be in need?
We face difficult challenges, face losses, have awful experiences and the list goes on, which affects us in more ways than what we think. Research has proven that subconsciously our past plays a big part in how we operate today. If you haven’t taken the time to process those major past events which caused pain, to Make 2024 your own, it’s important to address those.
These are only 4 practical steps to take note of that we suggest when you want to make 2024 your own, but there are many more.........let’s eat the elephant piece by piece and take 1 step at a time.
May 2024 be a year of being prosperous, have fun and enjoy each and every stride you take in the race to finish 2024.
